Our Approach and Experience

At Resource Relations, we listen, learn, give

good counsel and contribute creative ideas. Our principal consultant, Doug Bedell is experienced in

the news media, organizational communication, public relations and emergency communication.

He can be joined by his colleague, Phil Landesberg, principal of

Miles2Go Seminars and Consulting in Harrisburg, Pa. (Resource Relations was formerly located in Harrisburg.)

Doug is an American Studies graduate of Allegheny College, Meadville, Pa., Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. After two years in the U.S. Army, in the 1960s and '70s he was a reporter, editorial writer and assistant editor of the editorial page at The Philadelphia Bulletin, and a reporter in the Philadelphia bureau of The Wall Street Journal. From 1980-1994, he was responsible for media relations, employee communication and emergency communication at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Station, after the 1979 accident at TMI Unit 2.

More recently, Doug served as a public affairs disaster reservist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and as an evaluator on FEMA's behalf of the off-site aspects of nuclear plant emergency drills. He is also a trained community mediator. He has been keeping abreast of new communication tools like blogs, wikis and podcasts.

After a career with the Department of the Navy, Phil Landesberg launched Miles2Go to help apply innovative practices that result in real improvement. Doug and Phil write a regular column, "Engaging Ways", for The Central Penn Business Journal. They offer workshops on systems thinking, organizational communication and crisis communication.
