Workplace Communication

Workplace communication needs to be people-centered, not management-centered, task-centered, not title-centered. Above all, it needs to be effectively relational. An organization's success depends upon the commitment of its people. Effective managers maintain attentive involvement with the organization's activity centers and listen avidly for the voice of the system. Collaboration and dialogue are indispensable.

A good way to embody a business sytem is to sponsor a Diagonal Communication Team that slices across an organization and includes the President, representatives of all the departments and the receptionist. It meets monthly for freewheeling reporting/uncovering of trends and events that require understanding, support or squelching. Another, fast-developing,  computer-based approach to collaboration is an organizational wiki.

Management happens among people, not behind a desk. Practice "walking around" management. Discover what your people may need help with, or some fresh ideas.

Let us help you relate well to your people.
